Christmas for the homeless in Knysna

An annual tradition for Nathan... securing donations of chickens (thanks SPAR and a few sponsors!), rolls, apples, juice and home made biscuits to feed the homeless on Christmas. Thank you to the Douglas's and Renee and her son for joining us!

Relating to their situation, Nathan shared the message of God sending Jesus for everyone... because He does not judge us by our home or circumstances (Nathan was also homeless in Cape Town for a period of time after he became a Christian), but loves us all the same!

The feast was spread...

Food served...

Drink poured...

Conversation enjoyed...

Leftovers prepared for delivery to another site...

by Renee and her son.

Additional thanks to the helpers and photographer!

28 people in all enjoyed a gift of love, given because we have received the greatest gift... salvation through the reason for the season... JESUS!!

He truly is the "good news" the angels proclaimed to the shepherds watching their flocks by night!

Botwsana YFC Volunteers

Volunteers with YFC Botswana (from Canada and Germany, plus one visiting boyfriend) traveling through to Cape Town stopped for 2 days to see the sights of Knysna. Our days were filled with fun activities, and the evenings with good food!

Quick trip to the Knysna Heads... about 2 hour break in clouds after 2 days of mist and fog

Jumping for joy at the beach!

Jubilee Creek hike...

Swimming hole, we were the first to arrive this morning, as we were walking back we passed over 30 people heading up!

Upper falls... Nathan and I have never been, happy to have picture!

Waiting for the adventurous who climbed tree branches to upper falls

Playin with the elephants!

As quick as they came... they left, on to Cape Town, then finishing their adventure at Youth Week before returning to Botswana.
Praise the Lord for young people passionate to serve Him... we were blessed to be their host!

Preparing for my daughter Ciara's visit...

Nathan purchased a SANPark Wild card for us to gain entry into the SA National Parks and now we need to check out where to take Ciara and Brian in March. Our first stop... Stormsriver in Tsitsikama National Park (only bummer is that dogs are not allowed... sorry Barnabas, you must stay home!)

Nathan tested the vines... to see if they are strong enough for Brian to play tarzan!

Something for everyone, if you don't want to walk, you can a boat take to the bridges, or just hang out on the beach

Party, party, party...

It is the end of the year, and time to party with every ministry!
The students of BSSM joined at our house to celebrate one year of class, and enjoy good food and fellowship!

It was a great year of learning about how to be revival starters enabled by the power of the Holy Spirit. We wish all the students a holiday season filled with the love of Christ, the newborn King!

Christmas for Lhalane

The Island Church sponsored a Christmas party for the children from the informal settlement Lhalane. After they arrived at the park we realized that the diverse ages required some adjustment to our games, and we broke up into smaller groups. Penny played with the littlies...

Nathan took on the middle group...

Nico DeVos (YFC Staff) took the oldest

The sun was hot... and cool drink was greatly appreciated...

Barnabas hid in the little bit of shade while the food was prepared by Jess, Sue and Penny...

Lois managed to keep order on the slide...

Fried chicken and rolls... what a treat!!

Presents for everyone...

given in the love of the greatest gift... Jesus!!

Celebrating Birth!

Yes it is the time to celebrate Jesus, the one who gives us new birth... Last Saturday was an opportunity to celebrate the birth of babies born because of the ministry of hope Jesus provides to the hearts of mothers who chose birth rather than abortion.

As the mom's arrived, volunteer Nikki painted up the kids faces...

The program included a greeting with the love of the Lord...

Mothers testified of how God brought them through the decision, and encouraged them through the process. (This mom had emergency c-section, and the school invigilators brought one exam to the hospital the day after the birth so that she could graduate!)

Friend of the ministry, Carol, shared Psalm 149. "For You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made..."

Babies held...

Gifts opened...

Food and fellowship enjoyed...

THANK YOU... Father for birth!!

p.s. Thank you Dawn for all the hard work in organizing and preparation!
