Malawi pictures

Call me lazy... but truly a picture is worth a thousand words... below you will see all the pictures Nathan took with his Blackberry in order of the experience... If you have read his last two letters, then I'll let you put 2 & 2 together!

Sharing the Gospel

Nathan's disciples...
Paul from Plett Christian School
Innocent is Head-Boy at Wittedrift

Using the "Living Ball" to share the Gospel after playing soccer

Giving toys to orphans at Beira Mozambique

I used to help "trek" (pull) in fish like this with my father Bobby Overmeyer

Baobabs everywhere...

Using "picture tracts" to share the Good News

Varsity students

God's loving arms for children infected with HIV

No cot... only a blanket on the floor

Using dance to attract attention

Playing in line with kids waiting for sweets

Desperate for any handout

Rebecah has Cerebal Palsy mental slowness ( retardation) no mobility in legs her hands were retracted. I prayed for her and the mother based on her request, "Man of God help us ask God to ease my burden I am tired and my daughter has been like this since birth and the old she is getting the more of a strain it is to look after her. I have no husband."

I laid hands on the mother first, she cried as I believe she was empowered by the anointing to have peace and carry her burden under the yoke of Jesus rather than in her own strength.

Taking little Rebecah in my arms and asking that God would take pity on her and heal her. I bound the spirit of infirmity and commanded a healing over her mind and body. Of course God is sovereign and his timing is his timing. But as I declared Kingdom of God come will of God be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. No doubt other generation curses linger, but nothing is impossible for God.

After dance/drama, we preach from the top of a vehicle

Open-air outreach

A well deserved day off - rest at the pool!

Like Jesus... meeting ladies at the well!

After a looooong walk, finally at church

God's blessing of an interpreter!

Peeling onions for the next meal

Oom/Uncle Nathan "fans"

Baptism of our students in Lake Malawi!

Friend George from Bible College

Zimbabwe Ruins

The Team... united by love!

Nathan in Malawi

(see more about his trip further below, read about Julianna in the USA also below)

Greetings My Beautiful Princess

Wow, another day on the battle front, the report , however, is getting more optimistic. We did some more door to door evangelism. This area that we covered is very close to our campsite as we need to conserve diesel. Not sure if I informed you of the National crisis here in Malawi. Never-the-less we came across numerous Moslem families and then to our surprise even more JW’s . The JW’s refuse to let us pray for them even after they turned down our invitation to share the gospel. We honored them and after leaving their property we would pray on the pavement that Jesus would help them to remove the veil of deception and give them a greater openness.

Another, incident was of a woman who was originally Christian but she married a Moslem thus leaving her little choice but to adopt her husband’s faith. I reasoned with her very gently; start by saying that it is good that she honors her husband, however, for her to consider that she came into the world alone and will leave this world alone. She is responsible for her own spiritual choices. And serving God is spirit and truth would in no way dishonor her husband but rather increase her chances to allow Jesus to save them both.

I explained John 14:6. And perhaps the scripture that most impacted her was when I share John 3:16 placing her name where ever the personal pronoun was needed. This personalization drew her attention. I continue to share that God knew how many hairs were on her head and that her name was on the palm of his hand. I stop for a moment of silence and implored her to open her spiritual ears as God was calling her name and telling her that he loved her.

She began to weep and I knew that Holy Spirit was at work. But she continued to dig her heels in saying I must tell my husband first or he will beat me to death. I honed in on the abuse as a word of knowledge. I [prayed for her protection from her husband, telling her that, Jesus wants to protect her. We ended in a prayer but my heart bled for her ordeal and the fear she had for her husband.

At the same time there was also a friend of hers there, she was a Christian but never attended Church. Our interpreter gave her the assurance that she would be made most welcome if she attended Sunday and in fact she could share with her Moslem friend the Monday morning, this immediately changed the scenario bring a fresh hope.

Getting back to base camp some students felt discouraged, but I remember a story about the famous General Napoleon Bonaparte they were in a skirmish and were taking a major beating . He called their drummer boy who was used in battle to call to attention the soldier, normally to advance. He was a real puny little runt. And after Napoleon barked out the order to him, he responded ; "Sorry Sir that will not be possible as no one has ever shown me the retreat drum roll. I only know how to advance and play a victory tune." No doubt Napoleon was furious, but realizing he had no option he said well then play your beat. Mustering up his absolute best he beat his drum. The remaining forces herd the beat and heeded the call. It is recorded in history that Napoleon and his troops won the battle and finally took the village.

There is unfortunately no air time available for me so I might not be able to call for a while. I miss you and thought about you lots today. I pray God’s blessing and protection over you as you travel around in America. I pray for God to open up door of opportunity for you to share about our ministry. We need to secure most financial support. There is no pressure and God is always in control. But do make our requests and needs known God will find the donors. Material Ministry tools is that I need a new Laptop. I must admit it would be wonderful to visit as well in the US but right now money for my Hernia Op is more of a priority. Also we need to get an additional vehicle to effectively perform our ministry responsibilities.
I am praying for our home back in Knysna and especially Barnabas. I am trusting that God is taking good care of things for us. I must admit I am ready to go home to South Africa.

God bless my darling angelpie
