Ciara & Brian visit South Africa

Ciara & Brian visit South Africa...a whirlwind of activity. After months of planning... hours of time on gmail chat... Ciara & Brian spend 3 weeks of solid sight seeing in in the Western Cape of South Africa. A picture is worth a thousand words, so this blog is mostly pictures! Hang on, it is a fast and furious ride...

The Knysna Heads... always the first thing to see here. Brenton On Sea - gotta put your feet in the Indian Ocean!

Stop at "Birds Of Eden" on the way to Storms River

Storms River suspension bridges

Zipline adventure in the tree tops of the Tsitsikamma Forest

Daniells Cheetah Breeding Farm. Not only did we get to pet the cheetah (as she purred like a souped up hot rod), but we also held the 3 month old lion cubs!

Finally at Addo and Schotia Reserves. Be careful, the Addo Dung Beetle has the right of way, so you must dodge them as they cross the road! Can you spot the Kudu, the lion, the zebra, the giraffe.

Great White Shark cage diving. First trip, no sharks... second trip 4 sharks!

Off to Cape Town for a week. 1st stop the southern most tip of Africa - Cape Aghulas where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic.

Ciara and Brian saw the sights of Cape Town while I (Julianna) was at a "train the trainer" for Crisis Pregnancy Counseling, and Nathan was busy in Knysna with "Fire Trails" (see previous blog in March). They spent their days at Kirstenbosch Gardens, on the top of Table Mountain, a tour of the infamous Stellenbosch Wineries, hanging with the penguins at Boulder beach.

Knysna Township Tour (see previous blog in December for more about the tour)

Cango Caves... the "Adventure Tour" is not for the claustrophobic!

A plunge in the pool at the Meiringspoort pass waterfall!

No visit to the Little Karoo is complete unless you visit the Ostrich Farm... I am only sitting on the ostrich, Ciara & Brian were brave enough (and skinny enough) to ride!

On their final day, Ciara spotted an ad for a Spay & Neuter Clinic in a local informal settlement and requested to check it out. We ended up volunteering to do the post-op care for the 60 dogs and cats as they came out of anesthesia! It was a blessing to watch her in her element and spend time doing what she loves!

This was a trip for all to look back and remember fondly!!

FIRE TRAILS!!

Full of enthusiasm and living out his passion, Nathan spent 2 months in preparation, culminating in the Fire Trails School Marathon Thursday March 10.

Invited to unite, Christians and Christian churches took hands in serving the community for 40 days, early March until 16th April 2011 as "Fire Trails" pass through South Africa.

“The fire trails originated in the biblical understanding that God’s fire fell several times on an altar in the Bible. By giving ourselves to God as a living sacrifice, we pray for a release of God’s manifested glory in our time,” says Elza Meyer.

"Four trails will be covered by several “trains” consisting of action groups, travelling by car, bus or train, visiting towns and cities on invitation. Schools and the market place will be advised to take hands with churches in taking responsibility for the spiritual climate in their towns and cities. They trust God for a result in the physical dimension: crime diminishing and people acting unashamedly ethical." http://www.firetrails.co.za/

Commissioned to prepare the way here in Knysna, Nathan and Felicity Kapp, together with numerous church leaders, Schools, Correctional Centre, Municipal Management and even our honourable Madame Mayor, ignited a revival fire in the form of "The Knysna Fire Trails Relay Marathon." 12 schools as well as the Knysna Correctional Centre commandeered 3-5 student athletes to participate as ambassadors for the cause.

The cause/purpose of the event was made very clear the Student Athletes would run with a FIRE TORCH symbolically carrying the REVIVAL FIRE OF GOD,(1) to take a stand against the social ills that had a strangle hold on our schools and the community in general.(2) It was also to encourage a lifestyle of prayer in our schools, municipality and market place. (3) To have an attitude and heart adjustment to create real unity, Godly Love and care for our town and all its people. (4) For God's REVIVAL FIRE to impact Education, Health, Church, Government, Business, Media, Sport, Art and Culture

Even though there were scattered showers, it definitely didn't dampen their spirit in fact in positively impacted our logistics by one hour.

Some high lights...

Oak Hill School provided a hand painted banner for the starting line. It was also here where the cavalcade set formation (traffic dept., YFC support vehicle, Runners, 3x Mothers Who Care, followed by a Fire Dept truck)

Even the wet weather could not dampen the spirits of the students at Knysna Primary School!

Sunridge Primary School... the entire school stood outside anticipating the arrival of the student athletes, singing at the top of their voices and waving hand made posters and banners.

As only God's perfect timing can arrange for the arriving of the Flaming Fire Torch at Knysna Senior Secondary 5 minutes before the end of their specially arranged assembly. The school was elated to actually physically see the torch being run in and handed to the principal.

Students from Knysna Sr Secondary were just warming up when arriving at Percy High School and decided to continue running the rest of the way to the prison.

The Knysna Fire Trails Relay Marathon reached approximately 8500 students and untold numbers of on lookers. Special assemblies were also conducted concurrently to the RELAY MARATHON.

The Knysna Correctional Centre was included in the Relay as it often happens when the students fall through the cracks they land up here. We thus believed that it was appropriate to include them.

Being the last leg of our relay they had the privilege to hand the torch to Madame Mayor.

The Marathon drew to a close with the Honourable Madame Mayor, who graciously endorsed our initiative, and grace us with her presence at the finish. Madame Mayor further shared around the key issues of Prayer for improved moral values and especially for prayer against many of the social ills i.e. (Substance Abuse, Sexual Violence, Unplanned Teenage Pregnancy and Gangsterism).

The Fire Trails Team sang a few opening chorus, Nathan MCed the ceremony welcomed invited principals, teachers, students, parents, business people, dignitries and Madame Mayor.
A prayer was offered up, and the FIRE TRAILS Organisers shared their prophetic declarations and then presented Madame Mayor with a special key (Key of David) and plaque. Honouring her as the first citizen with authority to spiritually lock and unlock the city.

Shofar's were blown and the event hearalded a spiritial victory. God was glorified and an awareness among the community was initiated. The 10 March 2011 will go down in History. Praise the Lord!!

Wow what a privilege to baptize these 2 Malawians they are both sold out for the Lord. Not only did they receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour @ The Island Church but we also have been walking with them for a few weeks both received some deliverance. We shared some discipleship material with them and followed this up with understanding of learning in regard to both their salvation, the Gospel & baptism.

We followed through with the in filling of the Holy Spirit and a few weeks back already Lararus desired to speak in tongues. Now both Ephriam & Lazarus are filled and practicing their new heavenly language.

This might sound like placing the cart before the horse but hear this...
Ephriam went back to Malawi and shared his faith with a few friends, who he says has also become believers. It seems strange he left them with and English Bible which some reads and brokenly translates. I jokingly said:" so you have planted a church". His response to that was "yes you must come back with me next time when I take the more bibles and a sound system. Please continue to pray for both guys plus the few people back in Malawi who are reading the word daily and talk about the work of the Holy Spirit, the power of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We are arranging some foundational teaching bookets, and I will be sending up a copy of the Jesus film. Not sure how they will watch it though. Your prayers are vital.

I live for these testimonies.

May God richly bless you all.

A co- laborer with Christ

Yours truly
Nathan
