Wedding privilege

"We would like God's blessing on our marraige..."

Only last month Nathan baptized 2 Malawian young men in the Knysna Lagoon. They accepted Jesus as Saviour as a result of efforts by The Island Church Street Evangelism team. After traveling to his village in Malawi to share his new found relationship and fetch his wife Annie, Ephriam returned to Knysna with an excitement to start a church there. As Nathan spent time weekly walking a road of discipleship with Ephriam he learned that the wedding of Ephriam to his wife was performed in the traditional African manner. Thus the request to be married before the Lord.

God arranged for testimonies of a mission trip to Mozambique along with activities of our church members in a local informal settlement as a pre-cursor to the wedding of Ephriam and Annie last Sunday.

Asked to officiate, Nathan included the symbolism of weddings in Biblical times to Ephriam & Annie and Christ & His Bride (believers), we were challenged to think about Jesus love for us, and look forward to His return for the Bride of Christ.

A bit shorter than the week long (Biblical proportion) wedding celebration, we enjoyed a nice braai and fellowship with the couple for the afternoon.

No wedding is complete without a photo shoot... and the couple was excited to have such a nice view!

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that is should be holy and without blemish. -Ephesians 5:25-27
